About This Role

Rigetti is seeking a summer intern to support superconducting qubit fabrication at the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The intern will work in the cleanroom alongside the MF team and Rigetti engineers to fabricate qubit devices using varied Josephson junction processes. Fabricated devices will be measured and compared at Rigetti to inform process development.

Responsibillities

• Fabricate superconducting qubit devices in a cleanroom environment

• Operate thin film deposition systems (e.g., evaporation and/or sputtering)

• Support development and comparison of different Josephson junction processes

• Document process parameters and experimental results

Required Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or related field

• Hands-on cleanroom experience

• Experience with evaporation and/or sputtering systems

• Ability to obtain affiliate status at LBNL

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AlOx Josephson junctions

• Familiarity with superconducting qubits or related quantum devices

$35 - $50 an hour

Rigetti complies with all local and state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. Generally, we pay according to academic experience: Undergraduate ($35), Masters ($45), Graduate Level ($50). Additionally, Rigetti will provide a housing stipend up to $2,000 for candidates who relocate for the summer.
